Hi! I’m Vincent (Vinny) Grosso. I was born and raised in Haddam, Connecticut. Having always enjoyed physical activity, I never liked conventional “sports” (ie. baseball, basketball, soccer, etc.) because of all the rules and the competitive nature of such activities. At the age of 16 I started breakdancing, which helped me be able to quickly pick up parkour when I was introduced to it about two years later.
I have never been complacent with conformity, so at the age of 15 I withdrew from high school and enrolled in a community college located near my family’s home in CT. After earning an associate’s degree in General Studies at age 17, I transferred to Brigham Young University in Utah. From age 19 to 21 I took a break from school, work, and parkour to volunteer as a full-time church representative in Arequipa, Peru. At the age of 22 I earned a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership from BYU in the spring of 2011.
During my senior year of college I instructed parkour and freerunning classes at the Provo City Community Center and Arete Gymnastics in Lindon, UT. After that, I moved to Southern California where I completed my Rec Management internship for which I set up a parkour training business. From January 2011 to January 2015 I initiated, organized, promoted, and instructed parkour programs at several gyms and outdoor locations around Southern California.
In addition to parkour, I have also coached gymnastics, tumbling, cheer, breakdance and hip-hop. The California gyms I worked at include: Kips Gymnastics in Anaheim and Corona, New Hope Gymnastics in Fountain Valley, Studio EFFECT Training in Laguna Hills, and Cal Elite Kids in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Toward the end of 2012, I started to develop a greater desire to help people in more ways than just physical, so I started researching some options. During most of 2013 I dedicated myself to a life coach certification program taught by the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, which is accredited with the International Coaching Federation. After completing all of the required training, practice hours, and other materials (about 350+ hours of training) I became a Certified Professional Coach in January 2014.
Shortly after getting married in August 2014, I accepted a job as a Youth Counselor at a Residential Treatment Center in Provo, Utah. I trained coaches to take over my California classes before my wife and I moved to Orem in January 2015. I have returned to Arete Gymnastics to teach parkour again while continuing to promote and grow my California classes from a distance.
In addition to parkour I enjoy breakdancing, rock climbing, snowboarding, skim boarding, wake boarding, and slacklining..movement is life! I also enjoy some less physical activities such as cooking and eating all types of food, watching movies, reading, washing dishes, and doing anything at all with my beautiful wife.
